These questions have perplexed viewers for years. It has often been noted that the silhouette may represent a person, perhaps a couple. This may be a personal of Magritte’s, as in the ‘answer’ or the figure may be particular to a person Magritte knows, or perhaps, in regards to the couple theory, it may represent the answer as the unison of love between people, thus the ultumate symbol of love: the couple.
